The Dodge Ram Eco Diesel Towing Ratings are out

Dodge’s new Ram 1500 Eco Diesel has a clean-burning engine that outperforms in power and fuel efficiency.

The Ram Eco Diesel Engine

Paired with Ram’s exclusive TorqueFlite 8 Eight-Speed Transmission, the 3.0-liter Eco Diesel V-6 engine delivers the 420 lb-ft of torque and 240 horsepower, plus the great fuel economy that you would expect from a diesel-powered engine, but without spewing the high levels of greenhouse gases that have been so problematic with diesels in the past.

Diesel oxidation catalysts and particulate filters in the revolutionary Eco Diesel engine significantly reduce the pollutants that result from the burning of diesel fuel, making these engines compliant with emission standards in all 50 states.

The EcoDiesel Towing Rating

After building excitement about the introduction of a diesel-powered option for their popular Ram 1500 light-duty pickup, in July, Ram announced the EcoDiesel towing ratings:

“In a 2WD, two-door, long-bed configuration, the new Eco Diesel will tow up to 9,200 lbs. The new diesel engine approaches much larger displacement V-8 towing capability with a small but powerful 3.0-liter V-6 and best-in-class fuel efficiency of better than 25 mpg on the highway.”

The rating is important because it puts the towing capacity of this new engine in terms that anyone can understand. It isn’t obvious to people who are not familiar with mechanics that when considering towing capacity, torque, which measures the strength of an engine’s crankshaft rotation, is more important than horsepower.

The Eco Diesel rating is also important because it means that the engineers at Ram Trucks have figured out how to provide the serious muscle that you need to get things done in your life while increasing gas mileage and lowering CO2 emissions.

It means that, when you drive a Ram 1500 Eco Diesel, you will not only be contributing to cleaner air that we all breathe, but you will also be paying significantly less for a lot more towing capacity.

It means that you do not have to make sacrifices to do the things you love, like moving your boat or traveling the back roads of America with your travel trailer in tow. For businesses, it means less overhead spent on fuel.

The Ram 1500 Eco Diesel is truly an investment in the future for your family, and everyone else’s, as well.

So come by or contact us at Suburban Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Troy to learn more about the powerful, fuel-efficient, and clean-burning new Ram 1500 Eco Diesel today.

At Suburban Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Troy, we know that off-roading is a tradition for Jeep lovers all over the country and the world.

The Jeep Badge of Honor program is one way Jeep is choosing to reward those who choose the “road less traveled”, with an online community and corresponding mobile app. Get the facts about this unique program, and you’ll be on your way to earning your very first badge.

What you’ll need to start

The Jeep Badge of Honor community is open to anyone who chooses to register. Anyone can participate in discussion, check in to various trails, and rank up on the community’s ranking system. Hard Badges

Hard Badge Rewards can be earned by anyone who has a Jeep registered with the Badge of Honor Program. In order to earn them, a driver needs to check into specific trails at required locations, and then fill out a mailing address form.

Jeep will then mail you a Hard Badge for that specific location, which you can proudly display on your vehicle. There are 38 trails around the country that a driver can check into, using a Badge of Honor app, and earn a Hard Badge.

Trail Points and Jeep Waves

Some of the other features of the Badge of Honor system include Trail Points, and Jeep Waves. Trail Points are earned with every successful trail check-in, and are used to rank up on the online Badge of Honor community. Jeep Waves, however, are just for fun, and are the equivalent of the time-honored tradition of waving to other Jeep owners in real life – just a quick way to say a friendly “hello”.

Many Jeep owners are passionate about using the Jeep Badge of Honor community and app to keep track of their off-roading adventures, and earn fun badges at the same time. Be sure to take a look at the Jeep website if you want to find out more information about this groundbreaking program.

Chrysler Keeping and Expanding “Imported from Detroit” Tagline

Imported from Detroit

Chrysler is continuing to use the “Imported from Detroit” tagline, one of the most memorable and successful slogans ever used by an automaker.

History of “Imported from Detroit”

Chrysler first used the “Imported from Detroit” tagline during the 2011 Super bowl. The first-ever two minute Super bowl commercial featured rapper Eminem cruising the streets of urban Detroit in a restyled Chrysler 200 sedan. While Eminem drives through Detroit, he passes run-down houses and empty warehouses. He also passes Detroit’s impressive architecture, statues, and sculptures, and eventually passes through a thriving downtown area. A narrator asks “what does a town that’s been to hell and back know about the finer things in life?”

He answers, “Well I’ll tell ya, more than most.”

The commercial gave a rugged, persevering impression of Detroit, a town that had seen a massive amount of strife during the recent economic struggles starting in 2008.

Chrysler successfully connected itself with Detroit, aka Motor City, and made itself synonymous with the town’s hard-working, never-say-die attitude. The spot earned notable praise and numerous awards from the advertising industry and is credited with helping Chrysler rebuild its image.

Chrysler is keeping the Campaign

The “Imported from Detroit” campaign has been successful, and Chrysler has said that they plan on expanding the uses of the tagline in future commercials and advertisements. Although the tagline has been an undisputed success, there were previous rumors that Chrysler would discontinue the slogan.

Chrysler, however, responded to the rumors by telling the Detroit Free Press that they would not only keep the slogan, but they intend to expand its use. Chrysler is using the tagline in a partnership with clothing manufacturer Carhartt, which is also based in the Detroit area.

The automaker produced another Super bowl ad featuring Clint Eastwood, called “Halftime in America”, which used the resurgence in Detroit as an example of how the country as a whole can come through tough times, emerging stronger and more resilient than ever. The ad aired during halftime of the 2012 Super bowl, and was another popular spot for Chrysler.

These commercials, and the “Imported from Detroit” tagline, display Chrysler’s commitment to the American automotive industry and the people it serves, including employees, factory workers, and Chrysler’s customers.

Chrysler Vehicles for the Drivers of Troy

Suburban Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Troy is proud to be a part of Chrysler’s commitment to the American people. Visit us and take a test drive in any of our “Imported from Detroit” vehicles. We have a large inventory backed by our professional service, so stop in today!

2013 Dodge Durango Features Roomiest Third-Row Seating

Here at Suburban Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Troy, we know how much SUVs are in demand. Whether you’re slogging through winter snow or cruising the highways for a summer vacation with the kids (or tons of gear), the Dodge Durango ranks as a top choice for many buyers.

Plenty of top-notch notice

The 2013 Dodge Durango, especially, has received some notice among car critics. It’s received a best-in-class nod for available V8 power, with up to 360 horsepower; best-in-class kudos for standard and available towing, hauling up to 7,400 pounds; and best-in-class V6 highway driving range, with at least 550 miles on one tank of gas.

First impressions are important, and Dodge addresses that by combining a rugged exterior with stylish details. From available 20-inch wheels to an integrated rear spoiler, your Dodge Durango is sure to turn heads.

The roomiest third row around

Inside, the second row can seat either three in a 60/40 split bench or two with captains chairs. Even the front passenger seat folds flat for long cargo needs, and the third row is a 50/50 flat-fold configuration. The second row can include its own console for extra storage, along with a USB outlet and 12-volt power outlet.

Edmund’s notes that the third row is easily accessible and roomy enough for both leg room and head space even for 6-foot-tall passengers.

Comfort is key with premium cloth or available leather-trimmed seats, which are available heated and ventilated. The high-contrast instrument panel makes it easier than ever to be in control in your Durango’s cockpit.

Your gear easily comes along for the ride, whether in the total 84.5 cubic feet of cargo space or on the available roof rack, which can carry up to 150 pounds. Cool feature: The integrated crossbars fold down into the side rails of the roof rack when you’re not using them.

Plenty of get-up-and-go

Despite all the comfort, you won’t be sacrificing power with the 2013 Durango. Choose from two engines: the 290-horsepower 3.6L Pentastar V6 or the 360-horsepower, 5.7L HEMI V8. The fuel-saver technology on the 3.6L engine can get at least 550 miles on a single tank of gas!

Other bonuses: dent-resistant door panels, one-button power lift gate, available U-Connect media system, available hands-free voice command and more.

The new Dodge Dart is best in class in safety, technology, and customization options and offers up to 41 MPG highway. Amazingly, it does all this while retaining an impressively low price tag—starting at just $15,995. No wonder Kelley Blue Book has named it the “Coolest New Car Under $18,000.”

Let’s compare the best-in-class 2013 Dodge Dart to its competitors, which include the Ford Focus, Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla, among others. The Dart ties for lowest price point in the compact car class, and it’s at the top of the list in fuel economy. This impressive compact specimen also offers the most safety features, including Smart Beam HID headlamps, 10 standard airbags, four-wheel disc brakes, and blind spot monitoring. In the parking lot, it has your back with Rear Cross Path Detection and a Rear Park Assist & Camera. The majority of competitors offer few of these technologies, making the Dodge Dart the safest compact on the road.

Safety and fuel economy are key, but you also want your car to be comfortable. The 2013 Dodge Dart is a headlamp above the competition in this area as well. It offers you the most room to stretch out (97.2 cubic feet of total passenger room). A heated steering wheel keeps you warm in winter, and Dual Zone Auto Temperature Control lets you customize your car’s climate to your unique comfort level—whether you run hot or cold. Other cool interior features include an illuminated floating island bezel, ambient lighting, and accent stitching on the seats and dash.

The 2013 Dodge Dart also leads the way in exterior options. Projector headlamps and LED stop/turn tail lamps—both scarcely available across the class—come standard in the Dart. Customize by adding integrated dual exhaust, impressive 18-inch wheels and rain-sensing wipers (how smart is that?!). The new Dart is available in 12 colors (again outshining its competitors), so you can express your unique style every time you get behind the wheel.

For all of you tech junkies out there, the 2013 Dodge Dart is an obvious choice in the compact car class. Spring Maintenance Tips for Your Windshield

Windshield Tips

April showers bring May flowers, or so the saying goes. But here in Troy, the month of May can bring its own share of rain showers. In order to be a safe driver when the weather gets wet, you need to have a healthy windshield.

At Suburban Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Troy we know that properly working windshield wipers are a must. Not only do they make your commute safer and more enjoyable, but here in Michigan, it’s the law. Michigan vehicle code states that all vehicles (with a few exceptions) must have fully operating windshield wipers in good working order.

When giving your car a good once-over for spring, make sure that your wiper blades are properly clearing your field of vision. If not, one or both wiper blades may need to be replaced. Fortunately, this is typically an easy and inexpensive fix.

A product like Diamon Fusion, which is endorsed by the U.S. Military can also help improve your driving visibility during rainy season. Application by our experts is simple. This product can greatly improve visibility in wet weather, and — as an added bonus — it also makes it easier to remove bugs and mud from your windshield.

However, windshield wipers and products like Diamon Fusion are only effective if the windshield itself is in good shape. If your windshield has nicks or cracks, this may be the time to have it repaired or replaced. You may be able to get by with a nick or small crack for a while (given that it doesn’t obstruct your vision), but both affect the integrity of your windshield and shouldn’t be ignored for long.

Depending on vehicle make and model, a windshield replacement can run you anywhere from $350 to $1,300. Not a cheap fix, even on the low end. Fortunately, many insurance policies cover windshield replacement, at least in part. Check with your insurance company for details on your policy. Keep in mind that prices can also vary widely from one dealership or auto glass specialty shop to the next.
